This clutch was handsewn by artisan women of the Guna Dule Community of Caimán Alto, Colombia. For generations, these artisan women have passed down an ancient applique technique of hand-sewing cut-out layers of fabric to form an intricate piece of art. Each piece of fabric is the unique design of the artisan women who carefully crafted it. In the Guna culture, beliefs and traditions can be found woven into each unique composition. Some depict stories, animals, or daily scenes while others portray more abstract designs.
