Karabagh (Karabakh)

Persian rugs made in the southeastern Caucasus, close to the Kazak district and bordering northeastern Iran. Karabagh rugs feature medallion-like “eagle kazaks,” “cloudband kazaks” with medallions containing S forms, and both pictorial and realistic floral motifs. This region uses a distinctive weave, a double weft between every two rows of knots.
