One-of-a-Kind Rugs at abc carpet & home

Abc carpet & home started in the late nineteenth century as a pushcart business selling carpets. In the century since, we have become home to one of the largest and most diverse rug and home collections in the world.

Our collection of handcrafted and one-of-a-kind rugs is second to none. Each rug has been thoughtfully sourced by our team with a focus on quality, artisan craftsmanship, and an eye for uniqueness to tell that sought after handmade story with each piece.

Understanding Rug Sizes

While there are common and conventional rug sizes, don’t feel like these are firm boundaries — at abc carpet & home, we have many uniquely sized rugs in addition to standard sizes.

For example, a large room doesn’t necessarily require an oversized rug. Maybe you prefer a smaller rug that allows the floor beneath to share some of the spotlight.

Whether you’re layering small area rugs for added texture, using a medium rug to frame a dining room seating area, or investing in a one-of-a-kind oversized rug to cover an entire living room, our extensive collection offers a variety of styles and materials to suit every need.

If you are looking for something unconventional or a specific size, feel free to message our team to inquire about our custom rugs or our quick ship custom carpets.

Small Area Rugs and Accent Rugs

Small rugs are ideal for creating accents in intimate spaces, adding contrast, and sometimes for layering over larger rugs. Small rugs can work well in entryways, by bedside tables, or in reading nooks where a touch of softness and warmth is often needed.

4x6 Rugs are a common small rug dimension and ideal for smaller seating areas, foyers, and bedroom accents. Small rugs are often more irregular sizes.

Medium-to-Large Area Rugs

Medium-to-Large area rugs are perfect for defining prominent areas within a room, such as under a dining table, in a home office, or under a sofa or sectional in your living room.

The most common medium-to-large sized rug dimensions are:

• 5x7 and 5x8 Rugs – While on the smaller size, 5x7 and 5x8 rugs are the perfect size for an apartment living room or spare room with a twin or full-sized bed.

• 6x9 Rugs – Well-suited for intimate seating areas and medium sized dining spaces.

• 8x10 Rugs – known in the industry as the “Goldilocks” of rug sizes. An 8x10 rug is generous enough to make a statement but not so large that it will take over a room. 8x10 area rugs create a subtle, soft surface below a sofa, coffee table, or queen-sized bed in your living room, dining room, or bedroom.

• 9x12 Rugs - The perfect fit for formal dining rooms with a large dining table or larger living rooms. A 9x12 area rugs allow you to place your living room furniture fully on your rug while allowing you to still see the design. 9x12 rugs are the perfect fit under a king-sized bed as well.

Large & Oversized Area Rugs

Large and oversized rugs are designed to anchor your furniture in open-concept spaces. They can help create a luxurious feel in grander rooms, and can provide full-floor coverage in most rooms. They can work wonders with a large sectional sofa or under a custom made dining table.

Large & oversized rug dimensions commonly include 10x12 Rugs, 10x14 Rugs, 12x15 Rugs & other Oversized Rugs. As veterans in the rug space, abc carpet + home also offer a custom rug and quick delivery custom carpet services to get you the floor covering that fits your space perfectly.
