The Layers of Fall

The Layers of Fall brings together the pieces that make a home feel warmer as the season turns: plush wool and silk rugs, mohair and velvet upholstery, richly textured pillows and throws, candlelight, and handcrafted decor. Shop fall home decor curated by abc carpet & home, chosen to be layered, mixed, and lived with well beyond autumn.

Start From the Ground Up

A rug sets the tone for a fall room. Look for depth underfoot in hand-knotted Tibetan silk, textured wool and art silk blends, and cashmere-wool shag in warm browns, rust, and coral. Explore our full edit of one-of-a-kind rugs.

Furniture With Texture and Warmth

Low, generous sofas like the James Mohair Sofa, swivel lounge chairs, daybeds, and sculptural coffee and side tables anchor a room made for slower evenings. Shop all sofas & sectionals and furniture.

Pillows and Throws for Layering

Textiles are the easiest way to bring fall into any room. Silk velvet pillows in foliate greens and copper, Liberty fringe pillows, mohair plaid throws, and silk fringe throws add color and softness to sofas, chairs, and beds. Browse the complete pillows & throws collection.

Light, Scent, and Finishing Details

Crystal candle holders, taper candles, reed diffusers, incense, and handmade vases complete the look. Pair them with warm lighting, or discover more home decor and vases & vessels.

How to Layer a Room for Fall

Begin with a warm-toned rug, add one textured upholstered piece, then build with two or three pillows in mixed textures and a throw in a heavier weave. Finish with low, warm light from candles and lamps. Keep the base palette neutral and let rust, olive, deep green, and brown come through in the textiles, so the room carries easily into winter.
